Speed Ramping

Keyframed speed curves — slow-mo into whip-fast, on one clip.

Vidmoat’s speed is keyframeable: ramp from 0.3× slow motion into a 3× whip on a single clip, with the audio and media timing recalculated for you. Reverse, freeze frames, and constant speed changes are all one command each.

Speed ramps are the backbone of modern sports edits, transitions, and reveals — and one of the fiddliest things to do in legacy editors.

For a product reveal, start at normal speed, slow down as the product comes into view, then accelerate into the next shot. For a sports clip, place the slow section around the action you want people to notice. A ramp changes speed within a clip; a constant speed change affects the whole clip equally.

Use footage recorded at a higher frame rate when you want smoother slow motion. Slowing a low-frame-rate recording spreads its existing frames over more time; it does not create new captured detail. Preview the motion and listen to the audio before exporting.

How it works

  1. 1Select a clip and open Playback Speed in the inspector’s A/V tab.
  2. 2Add speed keyframes where the ramp should start and end.
  3. 3Play the preview to check the timing and sound, then export and review the finished clip.
